Benjamin drew a picture of his baby sister when his mother went out and he was
alone at home with his baby sister. He started feeling a little lonely after
some time and he decided to spend his time by drawing a picture of his sister.
2. Benjamin
used a piece of charcoal to draw the picture on a piece of cardboard.
3. When
Benjamin's mother saw the picture, she became very happy. She hugged and kissed
her son after looking at the beautiful picture.

Benjamin's mother was worried because she did not know if her son had done the
right thing. But she thought that the picture was lovely.
5. The
priest of their church, who came to their house, said that Benjamin had a
wonderful gift.

Understanding the Text
A) Answer these questions
1. The seven people felt hopeless because they thought
they would never be rescued.
2. The men decided to take turns to keep watch so that
they could attract the attention of the helicopter in case another came by.
3. The men suffered from colds and stiff joints. The
children helped them in small ways by making tea, chopping vegetables and
cleaning the basement.
4. The children enjoyed themselves by playing in the
snow. Om, and Alka showed Jiya how to pack the snow and make snowballs out of
them. They tossed them in the air and watched with delight as they crashed to
the ground.
5. First, Jiya made a big snowball. She rolled another
slight smaller snowball and placed it on the first. Then she made a smaller one
for the head. She used pebbles for the eyes, a twig for the nose and shaped a
smile with little stones.
6. Jiya offered to help Dinesh.
As a result, the helicopter flew away from them as they
could not spot or hear it on time.
